1-Triphenylmethylpyrazole (1-TPP) is a pyridine that is used as an unlabeled probe for cytochrome P-450 1A2 (CYP1A2). It has been shown to be a substrate for benzyl and pyridine N-demethylation. 1-TPP also acts as an inhibitor of CYP3A activity, which is responsible for the metabolism of erythromycin, and inhibits the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4. The benzyl group of 1-TPP can be substituted with other heterocyclic groups such as imidazoles or imidazoles.
