Description:
1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-1-methylquinoline is a benzimidazole compound that inhibits the replication of viruses. It binds to the bromodomain of histones and other proteins and prevents light from activating the hypsochromic response. This drug also inhibits bacterial growth and has an anticoagulant effect by inhibiting thrombin activity. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-1-methylquinoline also inhibits inflammatory responses in cells and may be used as a therapeutic agent for autoimmune or inflammatory diseases. The nitrogen atom in this molecule is important for its function because it can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules that are necessary for proper orientation of the molecule.
