Product Information
Thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine is an organic compound that belongs to the heterocyclic compounds class. It is a red-shifted acceptor and has been used as a fluorescent probe in investigations of electron transfer reactions. Thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine has been found to be an efficient anticancer agent in vitro and in vivo against the Ehrlich ascites carcinoma and the sarcoma 180. The molecule is electron deficient because it lacks a hydrogen atom on its thiophene ring. This makes it susceptible to oxidation by electrophilic agents such as nitric oxide (NO). Thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine may also function as an antioxidant due to its ability to scavenge hydroxyl radicals.
