These DNA adducts are formed when N-7-(2',3',4'-trihydroxybut-1'-yl)guanine reacts with guanine in DNA. N-7-(2',3',4'-trihydroxybut-1'-yl)guanine is also mutagenic and can cause mutations, which may lead to cancer.
