Tetramethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene (THN) is a synthetic compound that has been shown to possess anticancer properties. THN induces apoptosis in cancer cells by modulating the levels of reactive oxygen species and inhibiting DNA synthesis. It also has been shown to be effective against Alzheimer's disease as well as Friedel's syndrome. THN has been shown to inhibit the production of amyloid beta proteins in Alzheimer's patients and can also inhibit the formation of amyloid fibrils. The structure of THN is similar to aromatic compounds such as benzene and naphthalene.
