Product Information
Thiazole-2-carboximidamide is a potent and selective inhibitor of receptor tyrosine kinases. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of viruses in cell culture, as well as the replication of human hepatitis virus type B. Thiazole-2-carboximidamide inhibits the activation of protein tyrosine phosphorylation in cells infected with HIV, which may be due to its ability to inhibit viral strains that use this pathway. This drug also prevents tumorigenesis in mice by inhibiting cancer cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. The mechanism of action is not known, but it is thought that thiazole-2-carboximidamide inhibits the activity of receptor tyrosine kinases by binding to their active site and blocking their binding sites for ATP or other nucleotides.
