Product Information
1,2,3,4-Thiatriazol-5-amine is a nucleophilic compound that reacts with acetonitrile to form a salt. The reaction is catalyzed by the addition of an acid or base and can be classified as a stepwise mechanism because there are two steps in the reaction. In the first step, 1,2,3,4-thiatriazol-5-amine reacts with acetonitrile and forms an intermediate called 1-(chloromethyl)-1H-1,2,3,4-thiatriazole. In the second step of this process, this intermediate reacts with acetonitrile again to form the desired product. The rate at which this reaction occurs depends on the concentration of reactants and the activation energy required for each step of the process. The activation energy for this reaction is 41 kJ/mol. Acetylation of 1-(chloromethyl)-1H-
