Tetrahydro-2(1H)-pyrimidinone is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of heterocyclic compounds. It is a colorless solid that has a hydroxyl group at its 2 position and an oxygen atom at its 4 position. Tetrahydro-2(1H)-pyrimidinone can be prepared by condensation of two molecules of formaldehyde, followed by hydrolysis. Tetrahydro-2(1H)-pyrimidinone has been shown to have synergistic effects with copper chloride, which may be due to the conformational properties and the presence of hydroxyl groups in both compounds. This compound has also been shown to have biological properties such as wastewater treatment and nitrogen fixation. The x-ray diffraction data show that this molecule has nitrogen atoms in its structure.
