Product Information
Tertiapin Q is a drug that blocks acetylcholine receptors. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, a condition characterized by an irregular heartbeat and an increased risk of stroke. Tertiapin Q works by blocking the receptor for acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction. The drug has been shown to inhibit spontaneous contractions in rat atrial myocytes and ventricular myocytes isolated from guinea pigs. Tertiapin Q also inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential and prevents the release of ATP from mitochondria. This agent also blocks adenine nucleotide-sensitive potassium channels and increases potassium conductance, which causes hyperpolarization of the cell membrane. In addition, tertiapin Q is thought to block calcium channels as well as activate sinoatrial node cells (SAN) and epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs).
