TES sodium salt is a synthetic compound that belongs to the class of naphthalene derivatives. It interacts with the synthase gene and is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of erythromycin. TES sodium salt is synthesized by converting sodium carbonate into tes-carbonate, which reacts with naphthalene to form TES. The enzyme genes for this process are located in mitochondria, which are present in many tissues. TES can also be used as a regulatory molecule because it binds to DNA and alters its structure. This binding prevents transcription and replication, leading to bacterial cell death.
