Product Information
- Thiene-2,5-Diyldiboronic Acid
Thiophene-2,5-diyldiboronic acid is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. This compound absorbs UV light and releases energy into the donor molecule. X-ray crystal structures show that the donor molecule can be any electron-rich acceptor with a low detection limit. Thiophene-2,5-diyldiboronic acid has been synthesized as an analogue of the natural cofactor thiamine pyrophosphate, and is currently being studied for its potential use in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and nematode infections.
