Product Information

Name:
1H-1,2,4-Triazole-3-sulfonamide
Synonyms:
  • TSA(M1)
  • 1H-1,2,4-Triazole-3-sulfonamide(9CI)
  • s-Triazole-3-sulfonamide (6CI)
Description:

1H-1,2,4-Triazole-3-sulfonamide is a sulfonyl chloride herbicide that is used to control weeds in sugar beet and other crops. This herbicide is selective for monocotyledons and dicotyledons with an allyloxy or methoxy substituent on the 1-4c alkyl chain and has been shown to be less toxic to humans than other sulfonyl chlorides. 1H-1,2,4-Triazole-3-sulfonamide binds to the sulfonyl group of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS), which is involved in amino acid synthesis. This binding prevents the production of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) such as leucine, valine, and isoleucine.
