This chemical has shown to be an irritant when inhaled or absorbed through the skin. The reaction rate of 2,3,4-Trichlorobut-1-ene with nitrogen nucleophiles such as amines and hydrazines is faster than its reaction with chlorine atoms. 2,3,4-Trichlorobut-1-ene also has an activation energy of 20 kcal/mol.
