4-Tert-butylstyrene is a cationic polymerization agent. It is a nonpolar solvent that can be used in chemical crosslinking reactions to create stable polymers. 4-Tert-butylstyrene has been shown to have a kinetic rate of polymerization at room temperature, giving it the potential for use in rapid prototyping or rapid manufacturing applications. 4-Tert-butylstyrene can be used as a monomer in the production of polymers with a wide range of optical properties, such as low refractive index and high solubility. 4-Tert-butylstyrene also has functional groups that allow for chemical modification of the polymer, which is necessary for some applications.
