Description:

Tetramethyl-6,7-dihydronaphthalen-2-amine is a synthetic chemical that can be used as a catalyst in the synthesis of polymers. It is also used to produce an intermediate for the production of dyes. This compound can be synthesized by condensation and hydrolysis of 5,5,8,8-tetramethylnaphthalene-2,6-diamine with formaldehyde. A catalytic reaction solution with tetramethylenediamine and nitroethane was used to synthesize this compound. Tetramethylenediamine reacts with nitroethane and catalyzes the addition of water to form this product. The reaction yield for this process is about 82%.
