Description

Tizanidine is a drug that belongs to the class of drugs called centrally acting muscle relaxants. It is used as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, or other measures for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. Tizanidine inhibits neuronal death induced by the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of 2-adrenergic receptors. Tizanidine has also been shown to inhibit ryanodine receptor in cancer tissues and has been used as an analytical method for determining optimum concentrations.
