1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroisoquinoline hydrochloride is a 5-HT7 receptor agonist that has been shown to increase the release of serotonin. It is also an inhibitor of the synthesis of phosphodiesterase (PDE), which is an enzyme that breaks down cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This compound is used to treat various types of nervous system diseases and inflammatory disorders. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroisoquinoline hydrochloride can be administered orally or by injection. The drug has been found to have a prophylactic effect on bladder cancer in rats and may also have a therapeutic effect on cancer cells.
