Product Information
1,2,3-Thiadiazole-5-carboxylic acid is an antifungal agent that belongs to the class of thiadiazoles. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of verticillium and other fungi by binding to the enzyme succinic dehydrogenase in the electron transport chain. This drug inhibits oxidative carbonylation by binding with propionyl coenzyme A, which is required for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids. 1,2,3-Thiadiazole-5-carboxylic acid has two different isomers with opposite effects on growth regulators. The cis isomer stimulates growth regulator production while the trans isomer inhibits it. The cis isomer also binds with amine groups and aliphatic hydrocarbon chains, preventing them from being converted into amides or aromatics.
