Tri-n-butylallylphosphonium bromide is an inorganic compound that contains a benzyl group. It is a colorless liquid with a sharp, unpleasant odor. The structure of tri-n-butylallylphosphonium bromide consists of three butyl groups and one chlorine atom. Tri-n-butylallylphosphonium bromide is soluble in organic solvents, but reacts with water to form hydrochloric acid and tri-n-butyl phosphate. It also reacts with chloride ions to form the chloride salt, which has two different isomers: (1) the more stable trans isomer and (2) the less stable cis isomer. This compound can be used as an inorganic element for many industrial purposes, such as for phase equilibrium or for organometallic reactions.
