2-Toluenesulfonyl chloride is an organic compound that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It has been shown to have a protective effect against bowel disease and inflammatory bowel disease. The effects are mediated through the inhibition of pyrimidine synthesis, which suppresses epidermal growth factor expression, leading to amines and hydroxyl group production. This leads to the production of growth factors, which may be responsible for the anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties. 2-Toluenesulfonyl chloride can also inhibit enzyme inhibitors that are involved in inflammatory diseases such as cancer or inflammatory bowel disease.
