1,3,4,5-Tetrahydro-2H-1,5-benzodiazepin-2-one (THBD) is a nitroso compound that is synthesized by the reaction of methoxy with nitrous acid. It has been shown to have muscle relaxant properties and acts as a benzodiazepine. THBD also reacts with amines to form alkyl substituents and can be used in preparative chemistry for the introduction of alkyl substituents into organic molecules. The biological properties of THBD have not been extensively studied but it has been shown to germinate seeds.
