Tetrahydropyran-3-ol is a bioactive phytochemical that has a basic structural isomer. It is stereoselective and interacts with other molecules in nonpolar solvents. Tetrahydropyran-3-ol can be found in orientations that are conformationally related to each other, which is determined by the quantum theory. The conformational orientation of tetrahydropyran-3-ol can also be changed by dehydration. Tetrahydropyran-3-ol reacts with hydrogen peroxide, forming an intramolecular hydrogen bond and this intramolecular hydrogen bond can be used in the synthesis of vinyl ethers. Polarities depend on the orientation of tetrahydropyran-3-ol, which can be either polar or nonpolar depending on the molecule it interacts with.
