Description:
1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-quinoline-6-ol is an antioxidant that has been shown to be effective in protecting against oxidative stress. It is synthesized by the reaction of 1,2,3,4-tetralin with hydrazine. The reaction is catalyzed by a mixture of acids and bases in an alkaline environment. Tetralin can be obtained from coal tar or petroleum as a byproduct of cracking processes. The 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-quinoline-6-ol compound has been shown to act as an estrogen receptor antagonist and may be useful for the treatment of estrogen related diseases such as breast cancer and endometriosis.
