Description:

2-Thienoylacetonitrile is a synthetic chemical that has been used as a pharmacological tool to study the CB2 receptor. It is also an enantiopure compound with a high reaction yield. 2-Thienoylacetonitrile is sensitive to pH and can be reduced by sodium nitrate in acidic environments, which releases cyanide ions. This chemical has been shown to bind to the CB1 receptor, but not the CB2 receptor. The compound has photophysical properties that allow for fluorescence lifetimes in the range of 0.3-0.4 nanoseconds and it is also stereoselective, meaning it only binds one of two possible stereoisomers of the covalent bond at any given time.
