Product Information

Name:
(+/-)-threo-3-methylglutamic acid
Synonyms:
  • (3S)-rel-3-methyl-D-glutamic Acid
  • L-glutamic acid, 3-methyl-, (3R)-
Description:

(+/-)-Threo-3-methylglutamic acid is a monoclonal antibody that can be used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It has been shown to be effective against Enterococcus faecium and Staphylococcus aureus. This drug binds to the cell wall polysaccharide of these bacteria, leading to their lysis. (+/-)-Threo-3-methylglutamic acid is a daptomycin analogue that was synthesized through an asymmetric synthesis process. The drug interacts with glutamate receptors on the cell membrane, inhibiting the influx of calcium ions and thereby preventing induction of apoptosis. (+/-)-Threo-3-methylglutamic acid belongs to the group of cyclic lipopeptides and is structurally related to daptomycin.
