Product Information
- (a-R,2R)-a-Phenyl-2-piperidineacetic acidd-Ritalinic acid
D-threo-ritalinic acid is a metabolite of Ritalin. It is an α1-acid glycoprotein inhibitor that binds to the striatal membrane and blocks the release of acetylcholine, leading to increased dopamine. D-threo-ritalinic acid has been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines in systemic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. This drug also inhibits the uptake of dopamine into cells by binding to its transporter, and has a pharmacokinetic profile similar to methylphenidate (Ritalin) and amphetamine. The half-life is approximately 2 hours, and it can be detected in plasma for up to 3 days after administration. D-threo-ritalinic acid, like other drugs with this structure, also has an effect on reaction time.
