- 5-[(4-Methylphenyl)Thio]Quinazoline-2,4-Diamine
5-(4-Tolylthio)-2,4-diaminoquinazoline is a β-glucocerebrosidase inhibitor. It is an enzyme that breaks down glucosylceramide and other glycosphingolipids in the lysosomes of cells. Deficiency of this enzyme is associated with Gaucher's disease, which is a rare metabolic disorder characterized by the accumulation of glucocerebroside in tissues and organs. 5-(4-Tolylthio)-2,4-diaminoquinazoline has been shown to be active at subinhibitory concentrations against macrophages and to have beneficial effects on Gaucher mice models. This drug also has a therapeutic effect on Gaucher mice models and could be used as an agent for treatment of Gaucher's disease.
