Product Information
- 2,6-Dichloro-4-[1-(3-chloro-4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-methylethyl]phenol
3,3',5-Trichlorobisphenol A (3,3',5-TCBA) is a chlorinated aromatic compound that has been used as a photochemical oxidant. It is found in wastewater samples and has been shown to have agonist activities on the benzodiazepine receptor. 3,3',5-TCBA binds to liver s9 protein and forms an adduct with cytochrome P450 2E1. This adduct can be detected by liquid chromatography. 3,3',5-TCBA also binds to phenolic compounds such as lignin and can be used for the treatment of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The affinity of 3,3',5-TCBA for the chloride ion may be due to its chloride substituents.
