Description:
2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl 2,5-bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)benzoate (TFFB) is a prodrug of flecainide. Flecainide is a class III antiarrhythmic agent that blocks the slow inward currents in cardiac tissue. TFFB is metabolized by esterases to flecainide and trifluoroethanol. It has been shown to be effective against some bacterial strains such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but not against Enterobacteriaceae or Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
