Description

Tubastatin A is a molecule that induces cancer in mice. It inhibits the tyrosinase enzyme, which is responsible for the production of melanin. Tubastatin A also inhibits histone deacetylase and s-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase, which are enzymes that play a role in regulating cellular differentiation and growth. Tubastatin A has been shown to induce cancer in mice at high doses and inhibit cancer at low doses. The benzyl group on the compound may be important for its anti-cancer effects.
