Thiophenol is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C6H5SH. It is a colorless liquid that has a boiling point of approximately 100 degrees Celsius. Thiophenol has been shown to inhibit enzyme activity in biological samples, such as human neutrophils and an infectious disease bacterium. In addition, thiophenol has been used to study the phase transition temperature of biological materials by measuring the kinetics of their transfer reactions with hydrogen fluoride. Thiophenol also has been used as an inhibitor molecule in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to study DNA-protein interactions and fluorescence probe for DNA damage detection.
