Description:
Thiopropionamide is an amide compound with a molecular weight of 160.09 g/mol. The melting point of thiopropionamide is 163°C, and the boiling point is 239°C. It has a solubility in water of 1.9 g/100 mL at 25°C and a solubility in ethanol of 1.2 g/100 mL at 25°C. The molecule contains two hydroxyl groups, one on the carbonyl group and one on the side chain. Thiopropionamide has been shown to be an effective agent against inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, although it does not have activity against gram-positive bacteria due to its inability to penetrate these cells.
