Tetraethyl ranelate is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in organic solvents. It has a melting point of about 55-60°C, a boiling point of about 250°C, and a density of 1.3 g/cm3 at 20°C. Tetraethyl ranelate can be used as an additive to make polyesters more stable or resistant to heat or light. Tetraethyl ranelate also helps to stabilize the color of polyester fiber and improves the dyeability and washability of the fiber.
