Description

4-(Trifluoromethylthio)phenol is an organic solvent with nucleophilic properties. It is synthesized by the reaction of triflic acid and butyllithium with phenol in an organic solvent. This compound is reactive, which allows it to react with a variety of nucleophiles such as fluorine or other electrophiles. The introduction of a trifluoromethyl group at the 4-position of phenol results in the formation of 4-(trifluoromethylthio)phenol.
