Trimethyl orthobutyrate is a heterocycle that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is synthesized by reacting trimethyl orthoformate with hydrochloric acid. Trimethyl orthobutyrate has been shown to inhibit 3t3-l1 preadipocytes proliferation, which may be due to its ability to bind with the receptor and inhibit protein synthesis. Trimethyl orthobutyrate also has tumor treatment properties and can be useful in amide pharmaceutical preparations.
