Trimethylsilyl-1,2,3-triazole is an organic compound used in the synthesis of α-pinene. It is a five membered ring with two methyl groups on one carbon and three methyl groups on the other. The molecule has a formula of C4H6N2S. Trimethylsilyl-1,2,3-triazole can be synthesized from norbornadiene and butene via a transfer reaction followed by a photoelectron oxidation. This process yields a mixture of stereoisomers that can be separated by column chromatography or crystallization.
