It has a yellow color and is stable under ambient conditions. 2-(4, 4, 5, 5-TetraMethyl-[1, 3, 2]dioxaborolan-2-yl)-fluoren-9-one can be synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction of boron compounds with phenanthroimidazole. This compound has been shown to emit light at temperatures as low as -78°C.
