(R)-(+)-Trityl glycidyl ether is an organic compound that is a pump inhibitor. It binds to the catalytic site of the ABC transporter and inhibits phosphonate uptake, which leads to a decrease in ATP production. This inhibition may lead to an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative damage. The structural modifications of the molecule were made according to chemical analogy with known nucleobases. The 6-chloropurine moiety was synthesized by modifying the aglycon with chloroethylisocyanide, which was then reacted with 4-trimethoxysilylbenzene using phosphonates as coupling agents.
