Description:
5-(Trifluoromethoxy)-1H-indole is an anti-inflammatory agent that is structurally related to a class of compounds called thiosemicarbazones, which have been shown to inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. This action may be the cause of 5-(trifluoromethoxy)1H-indole's ability to reduce inflammation in diabetes and atherosclerosis. The pharmacological data on 5-(trifluoromethoxy)1H-indole are limited as it has not yet been tested in humans. However, results from animal studies suggest that this compound has potential for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other inflammatory conditions.
