Product Information
Tributyl-p-tolyl-stannane is a solvent that can be used to make polymers. It is a radical cation that is stable in organic solvents and has been used in the synthesis of polystyrene and polypropylene. Tributyl-p-tolyl-stannane reacts with alkali metals such as lithium chloride or sodium hydroxide to produce an organolithium compound. This reaction can be reversed by adding zinc chloride to form a dieckmann product. The dieckmann product can then be used for the condensation polymerization of styrene and butadiene, producing crosslinked polystyrene or crosslinked polybutadiene.
