Product Information

Name:
4,5,6-Trifluoropyrimidine
Synonyms:
  • Pyrimidine, 4,5,6-trifluoro- (8CI,9CI)
  • 4,5,6-Trifluoro-1,3-diazine
Description:

A trifluoropyrimidine is a compound with the molecular formula C4H4F3N. It is a precursor to aromatic compounds and is used in chemical reactions involving formaldehyde, Grignard reagents, and alkylenes. Trifluoropyrimidines are usually prepared by reaction of a pyrimidine with an organometallic reagent such as lithium aluminium hydride or aluminium hydride. The nitrogen atoms in the trifluoropyrimidine can be quaternized by reaction with an anion such as fluoride or chloride. Trifluoropyrimidines are also used in organic chemistry as a building block for more complex molecules, such as pharmaceuticals.
