Product Information

Name:
β-(2-Thiazolyl)-DL-alanine
Synonyms:
  • DL-Ala(2-thiazolyl)-OH(+/-)-2-Amino-3-(2-thiazolyl)propionic acid
  • H-.beta.-(2-Thiazolyl)-DL-Ala-OH
Description:

Beta-2-thiazolyl-DL-alanine (beta-TZA) is a derivative of lysine that has regulatory and catalytic activity. It is an analog to lysine and is used as a supplement for corynebacterium glutamicum. Beta-TZA can be synthesized by the addition of two atoms of sulfur to lysine. The biosynthesis of beta-TZA in corynebacterium glutamicum requires 5-hydroxyuridine, which is converted to 5-aminoimidazole by the enzyme hydroxylaminase.
