O-Z-L-tyrosin is a synthetic oxidant that has been shown to have the ability to induce sclerosis and demyelination in vitro. It has also been shown to be effective in vivo, with high efficiency. O-Z-L-tyrosine can be used as a treatment for multiple sclerosis by inducing oxidative stress on central nervous system cells. It is more efficient than other synthetic oxidants such as glutaraldehyde and paraformaldehyde, and is less toxic. O-Z-L-tyrosin has a molecular weight of 195.2 daltons, an acid composition of C1N, and a pH of 3.5 - 4.5 at 20 degrees Celsius.
