Product Information
- Thiazole-4-carboxaldehyde
- Thiazole-4-Carbaldehyde
1,3-Thiazole-4-carboxaldehyde belongs to a class of corrosion inhibitors that are used in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is a technetium (Tc) chelator, which means it binds to the radioactive isotope Tc and prevents its accumulation in the body. This agent has been shown to have antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. 1,3-thiazole-4-carboxaldehyde has also been shown to inhibit the uptake of thiazole-4 carboxaldehyde by macrophages, providing an additional mechanism for its antimycobacterial activity. The molecule is fluorescent and can be visualized using fluorescent microscopy. The fluorescence intensity is proportional to the concentration of 1,3-thiazole-4-carboxaldehyde. In vivo studies have also shown that this agent can be used as a probe for imaging tumors.
