2-(4-Trifluoromethyl-phenyl)ethylamine is a functional group that belongs to the class of organic compounds called ethyl amines. This compound has been found to be a termination agent for the synthesis of polymers, including proteins. The hydrogenated form is hydrophobic, and can be used in pest control. 2-(4-Trifluoromethyl-phenyl)ethylamine can be used as an alkylation agent to synthesize perovskite materials with enhanced properties. It also has been shown to react with serotonin and phenethylammonium ions, which are neurotransmitters in the brain.
