4-Trifluoromethyl benzamidine·HCl is a fluorine-containing ligand that can be used to catalyze reactions. It has been shown to bind to serine proteases and inhibit their activity, as well as being able to enter cells and bind to nuclear proteins such as the nucleotide-binding domain of the human telomerase reverse transcriptase. 4-Trifluoromethyl benzamidine·HCl enhances nuclear polarization in styrene polymerization, which is a process that produces monomers for plastics. The molecule is also hyperpolarized by magnetic fields and can be used for NMR spectroscopy.
