Description:
5-p-Tolyl-1H-pyrazole is an intermolecular relaxant that binds to the acetylenic site of the muscle membrane. It has been shown to produce muscle relaxation in animals, with a potency and duration of action similar to those of methocarbamol. The mechanism of action for 5-p-tolyl-1H-pyrazole is not well understood, but it may be related to its ability to penetrate the blood brain barrier. This compound also has anxiolytic properties, which may be due to its ability to block GABA receptors.
