Product Information
- 2H-Pyran-4-carbonyl chloride, tetrahydro-
- Tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carbonylchlorid
Tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carbonyl chloride (THPC) is a phosphonium salt that is an intramolecular nucleophile. It has the ability to form multiple bonds with other molecules, including oxygen heterocycles and alkyne. THPC can also function as a stabilizer for its own carbonyl group, which allows it to be used in the synthesis of tetrahydropyran derivatives. Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is one such derivative that can be synthesized from THPC by oxidation and isomerisation of the carbonyl group. This compound has been studied extensively for its chemical properties and biological functions, such as sequence specificity, enzyme inhibition, and structure determination by X-ray crystallography.
