Tetraamminepalladium(II) nitrate is an industrial chemical that reacts with hydrogen chloride to form a palladium-chloride complex. Tetraamminepalladium(II) nitrate can be used as a catalyst in the production of pharmaceutical drugs, and has been shown to have a high degree of homogeneity. Tetraamminepalladium(II) nitrate is also used to catalyze the reaction between an aryl halide and phosphotungstic acid, which is used in the production of particle and strain. The activated state of tetraamminepalladium(II) nitrate can be achieved by adding sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, which increases its rate of reaction.
