2-Thienylamine is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of pyrazole derivatives. It has a pharmacokinetic profile that includes absorption through the skin, metabolism by the liver, and excretion in the urine. 2-Thienylamine has been shown to have synergistic effects with other drugs such as fluconazole, ketoconazole, and itraconazole. In vitro studies have also indicated that 2-thienylamine has antifungal activity against Trichophyton rubrum and Candida albicans. This drug inhibits microbial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis via its interaction with amino acid side chains of proteins. The mechanism of action involves binding of 2-thienylamine to amino groups on lysyl residues in peptidyl transferase enzymes. These interactions lead to inhibition of peptide bond formation between amino acids, which results in termination of protein synthesis.
